Beware: I'm about to rant

Steve and I are sitting here watching the news (which if you know Steve and I at all, you know that is a very bad idea). They just showed a video, taken by hidden camera, of Mexicans walking across the border. I know, you're all shocked that something like that could happen in this country, especially with this on-the-ball administration that is currently "serving" us. What will shock you even more is to find out that these are not just ordinary, trying to better their lives, family oriented Mexicans. Oh no. That would be bad enough, considering the fact that those people seem to think that even though they are in this country, sucking up its resources, and taking jobs that rightfully belong to Americans, they don't need to pay any taxes. Oh, and by the way...we are also expected to support them on government programs, teach their children (in Spanish, mind you), all the while turning the other cheek while our country gets raped and pillaged by people who don't belong here in the first place. I digress. No, these aren't even relatively good people that are slithering their way into our back yards. They are drug dealers, murderers, rapists, and all around wastes of skin. How in the world is it that THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA seems so freaking powerless to stop these criminals from STROLLING across the border and simply blending into our daily lives?! The places that these illegals cross into our country are left a wasteland. Full of urine and feces, garbage, bottles, backpacks, dirty clothes, a dump. The people who came here as immigrants decades ago took so much pride in the opportunity to be an American. Learned the language, became citizens (what a novel concept) and treated our country with respect. From the second these illegals step foot in our country, they begin to leave a trail, literally and figuratively, of destruction and filth that is becoming the ruin of our country. I am so sick of hearing time and time again of an illegal "immigrant" being thrown into prison because they have stolen, raped, vandalized, or in some other way furthered the down fall of a country they don't belong in and have no right to! What is it going to take to get them out and keep them out? In the last six months, FOUR Arizona families have been terrorized by these illegals as they pass through our borders. Families, American citizens, camping in a place they have every right to be, shot by Mexican criminals who had no right to be there in the first place! The "leaders" that have been elected to speak for us and to take care of us, quite simply, don't care. They have their own issues that they are much too worried about to think about the people they are supposed to protect. So, obviously, it is up to us to protect ourselves and each other. What is it going to take for us to wake up? What has to happen before we stand up and say NO MORE! No more illegals, no more running into our country, getting paid under the table and taking it back tax free, no more drugs and guns brought in, no more Mexican criminals, no more tolerance for American employers that hire these illegal Mexicans! NO MORE!

I am so very naughty

This is not an over share. This is a plead for others to admit that they are just as bad as me. I'm sitting on my couch right now. I finally got my baby to take a nap, Kate is in her room watching a show, and Steve is sleeping. I'm looking at my house: a basket full of socks needing to be folded, dusting that needs to be done, dishes in the sink, miscellaneous clutter and a million other things that I SHOULD be doing. I don't want to. I know that as a woman and a wife and a mother, not wanting to do something normally doesn't change anything. You still have to do it, so you do it. But sometimes, just sometimes, is it okay that I am sitting here eating beef jerky and drinking Pepsi, playing dorky word games on pogo and watching "Say Yes to the Dress", instead of attending to all the millions of things that I SHOULD be doing? Please tell me that I am not the only one that, every once in a while, turns my nose up at all the mom-jobs screaming in my face, open a new Pepsi, have something totally unhealthy for lunch,(chips & salsa and milano cookies, anyone?) and actually do something I WANT to do!

Brooklyn's Great-grandma Kay

My beautiful family on Easter

Katelyn and Miles at the airplane museum (thanks, Stacie!)

Me and Jordan in his blues- he looked so handsome!

Katelyn is so fun!

We took the girls to temple square...

Next time, we can actually go inside!

Did you miss me?

Madness has ensued in my life, and my blog has been very neglected because of it. Steve and I have so much going on right now, a lot of the time we forget to eat. Steve is going to school full time and works full time on the grave yard shift, which means that when us girls are getting up and our day is beginning, Steve's day is ending and he's getting into the bed that is still warm from when I was there. During the day, I take care of the girls, do housework, attend to the garden, take care of the "business end" of being a housewife, (paying bills, making phone calls, doing people's jobs for them that I'm still waiting to be paid for, i.e. DWS, BCBS, workers compensation, etc.) and other day to day mom stuff. Steve wakes up in the late afternoon to early evening. We have dinner as a family and Steve and I read scriptures or have a conversation (if we can yell loud enough over our screaming baby) if we have time in between doing for the kids and doing school and dishes and all that jazz. I get Kate to bed and Steve leaves for work around 10pm, at which point I try to get Brooklyn to bed, which usually happens between 11 and midnight. After that, I try to hurry and make my house look like it hasn't been ransacked by wild beasts. We just got a new calling at church, I'm a visiting teacher for the first time ever, I have a garden for the first time ever, and two high maintenance kids. This last week, Brooklyn got an ear infection. You have to understand, she is a difficult baby. Very sweet, and very difficult. So her having an ear infection on top of that is pretty crazy. So, I had her in to Wee Care on Wednesday night and Kate in on Thursday night with a fever of 103.5. Both girls are on antibiotics. Brooke is also teething. I am barely surviving life right now, and I know for a fact I would not have my head above water were it not for my two awesome sisters who are always no matter what there for me at the drop of a hat. (Just to illustrate what a sacrifice this blog is...when I just told Kate I can't play with her right now, she told me I'm not her best friend forever) But, I digress...if it were not for my sisters, I would lose my sanity. Anyway, you get the picture of the insanity, right? So, now on to the good news...I'm getting married! I know, you're confused. Steve and I get to be sealed to each other and our beautiful girls this year. Steve will be ordained an elder shortly, then we are going to bless the girls and then go to the temple! (hopefully not all in the same day). I am so excited that our lives are finally getting to where they are supposed to be. Heavenly Father has shown us such love and we have so many blessings because of the way we are living. It feels so good to have things in perspective and to know that we are doing things that will make us happy forever. Thank you to all of you who never gave up on me and kept me in your prayers all those years I was so lost. Now, a barrage of random pictures that have been waiting to be blogged!

Steve took Katelyn to see Disney on Ice. She got all dressed up in all her princess gear and they met up with her cousin Mary and uncle Jeff for a princess dinner at Crown Burger (it does have the word crown in it after all).

Brooklyn is a really hard baby but she has such a sweet spirit about her. How someone can be screaming and sweet at the same time is beyond me!

Kate is in dance class. She loves it and has so much fun!

Katelyn got to go to the airplane museum with her Aunt Stacie and cousins Kayla and Miles. They had a 1950's replica house there. These two are so cute! Thanks Stacie!

Me and my "little" brother. I'm so proud of you, Jordan!

I found cute matching dresses for the girls for Easter.

My adorable family on Easter.

Katelyn and Brooklyn in their Sunday dresses. Erin, Becky and I wore these dresses when we were little.

It's been too long

I have not been able to blog in forever! My life has been really crazy (mostly in good ways) but today I just have to hurry and give you guys another Kate-ism to laugh about. Today in Sacrament Meeting, I asked Kate what she learned in nursery. She said "That I am a child of Lady Gaga and the Seven Dwarfs". I don't remember learning that when I was little. Man, times have changed. We have some serious family home evening-ing to do.
